100% Active tri-functional aziridine crosslinker.

Addition of 2 - 3% to water based acrylic emulsions or urethane dispersions or solutions produces a marked

improvement in water, chemical and abrasion resistance and enhances adhesion to specific substrates.

Permutex XR-2500 is room temperature reactive and therefore can be used under air and forced drying conditions.

Recommendations for end-use:

In water based lacquers to improve water, alcohol, detergent, chemical, block and abrasion resistance.

In PVC coatings to reduce plasticizer migration and improve stain resistance.

In solvent based polymers to increase all sorts of resistance properties.

Generally to improve adhesion of water borne systems to non-polar substrates.

Formulating guidelines:

Permutex XR-2500 crosslinks polymers with reactive carboxyl functionality.

It should be added to lacquers, polymers, or inks prior to use and due to it's excellent miscibility with water, it can be

stirred in by hand.

In water borne formulations, Permutex XR-2500 will slowly hydrolyse and blends should therefore be used within 3 - 5

The hydrolysis products have no adverse effects on the emulsions nor on the dried films and additional crosslinker may

be added to restore activity.

In case of process temperatures exceeding 35 C, depending the nature of the polymer dispersion, considerable

viscosity rise may be noticed. As the crosslinking reaction is acid catalysed, one can slow down the reaction in the
blend

by increasing pH to 10 by addition of diluted ammonia.

Solvent based systems, modified by the addition of Permutex XR-2500 have a much shorter potlife because they tend

to thicken and may gel fairly quickly.

Potlife however in this case may be extended by adding Permuthane MA-22-611.
